WASHINGTON, Nov 1 (Reuters) - The U.S. Navy on Monday said it awarded a $136 million contract to General Dynamics Corp. (GD.N: Quote, Profile, Research) to continue developing a new Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle (EFV) for the U.S. Marine Corps and the Navy.
The EFV is being designed to replace the Marine Corps' aging AAV7A1, and will allow the Navy and Marine Corps to maneuver together in ships and move troops ashore in all types of amphibious operations.
