Motorola Brings Seamless Mobility To Life At 3GSM World Congress

- Ground breaking alliance with the GSM Association to “Connect the Unconnected”
- New global product design strategy
- MTC trials UMTS in Kuwait
- Supporting European Commission’s (E112) e-Call initiative

Cannes, France – February 14, 2005 – At 3GSM World Congress (Exhibit stand A21, Hall 1), Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) is unveiling new Seamless Mobility solutions, including feature-packed handsets and new high speed commercial network technologies that will increase ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) and customer loyalty for mobile phone operators. These new products and services will prove very popular with consumers by helping them stay connected. One of the highlights of the show will be the demonstration of a novel network-based system that enables seamless multi-media experience across multiple environments.

- Global product design - Motorola is announcing a new global product design strategy around two key silhouettes – rounded and thin – crafted to give the products character and personality. This will be manifested in a range of exciting and groundbreaking new products, including the special-edition black RAZR V3, the SLVR V8, and PEBL V6.

- 3G devices leadership - is highlighted with a trio of feature and functionally rich new handsets, for all price levels, such as the Motorola A1010 and E1120, promising thrilling experiences in music, video clips, games, movies and downloads.

- Connect the Unconnected - a ground breaking Seamless Mobility alliance with the GSM Association, to “Connect the Unconnected” by delivering up to six million feature packed handsets at an ultra low cost level in the first six months, giving access to mobile phones to those who previously could not afford it. This program will predominantly target emerging markets, and relies on a handset platform engineered for durability, long talk time and the design preferences of each market.

- MTC Kuwait trials UMTS – Motorola and MTC today announced the completion of the first Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) point-to-point video and voice calls in Kuwait. MTC is now trialing Motorola’s UMTS system.

- Motorola IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) In Action - Seamlessly bringing converged VoIP and multimedia applications together across a variety of end-user devices and environments. Demonstrations include video calls, ringback tones, multiple devices showcasing packet switch to circuit switch calling, flexible alerting, voicemail, unified messaging and mobile conferencing.

- Convenience On the Road - Motorola presents its hands-free, in car Bluetooth Car Kit IHF1000, tailored to the needs of drivers. With a simple touch of a button, Motorola’s voice operated Bluetooth Car Kit IHF1000 provides a driver with three easy ways to place hands-free mobile phone calls including: speaking the number or contact they wish to have the system dial; accessing up to 20 contacts stored on the system; and using voice tags stored on their mobile phone.
- Lifeline to help during an emergency - Motorola is a supporter of The European Commission’s European Directive for Mobile Communication (E112) e-Call initiative and is showcasing how its technology can transmit important accident data instantly, such as the exact location of the car, to authorities to help facilitate an emergency response.

Motorola’s ultra-thin RAZR V3 has not only been short listed for the Best Mobile Handset award but also Best Marketing Campaign in the 2005 GSM Association Awards. The winners will be revealed at a gala dinner in Les Ambassadeurs, Palais des Festivals on the evening of February 15.
