Stuart Reed Appointed Head of Motorola Supply Chain

SCHAUMBURG, Ill., April 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT - News) today announced that Stuart Reed has been named senior vice president of Motorola's global supply chain organization effective April 22. Reed worked at IBM for more than 20 years, most recently as one of the key executives in the company's supply chain organization, where he served as IBM's vice president, worldwide manufacturing. Reed will report directly to Ed Zander, chairman and CEO.

Motorola's supply chain organization includes its global manufacturing facilities, customer fulfillment centers and strategic sourcing operations and serves the company as one entity for maximum cost effectiveness.

Prior to his most recent responsibilities for all hardware and software manufacturing and engineering in IBM, Reed served as vice president of IBM strategy, process and systems, where he developed the original strategy in support of IBM's integrated supply chain organization, as well as the various value chains within IBM. He began his career at IBM in 1983.

Reed holds a master of science degree in management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and was appointed a Sloan Fellow. He also earned a bachelor of arts degree in materials and logistics management from Michigan State University. He will relocate to the Chicago area from Hopewell Junction, N.Y.
