Some U.S. troops in Iraq are being targeted by companies that are peddling unhelpful financial services, according to Sen. Tim Johnson, D-S.D.
Johnson said he wants the U.S. Defense Department to crack down on the problem.
The senator said he's heard reports of troops at Iraqi bases being invited to sessions called "personal finance classes." At the sessions, representatives try to sell them shabby life insurance policies or contractual mutual funds that have high premiums and fees and low returns, Johnson said.
