COLES Myer chief executive John Fletcher wants to expand the retail giant's customer offering to include financial planning services.
However, he ruled out Australia's biggest retailer going into the banking industry.
Mr Fletcher said Coles Myer would consider linking up with a bank to offer wealth management products.
"(But) I think whether or not we can add value to those services is quite a different question to do we want to be a bank," Mr Fletcher said.
"We definitely do not want to be a bank."
