Get in the Swim of Water Safety

In California, pools provide some of the best recreational opportunities over the 4th of July weekend, but they can also pose the greatest risk. Many property insurance companies require homeowners with pools to install basic safeguards. Keith Adachi of Allstate offers advice on staying safe while cooling off this summer.

CUT: (Adachi) A pool is considered an "attractive nuisance," too tempting to resist, especially to children. Insurance companies may require fences, locks, decks and various pool safety equipment. Installation of these will help reduce liability.

SCRIPT: There are also common sense safety measures to follow.

CUT: (Adachi) Make sure everyone in the household can swim, never leave toys or floats in the pool when it's not in use and keep life saving gear readily available. These are just a few simple ways to keep your family safe this summer.

SCRIPT: One final tip, if you're jumping into the water, never mix it with alcohol. That's Are You Covered from Allstate, I'm Brian Osuch.
