Insuring Stay-at-home Parents
If you're a stay-at-home parent, you know that raising children can be a full-time job. And just because you don't make a salary, that doesn't mean your work doesn't have value. Nancy Kuhn of Allstate has the details on how to validate that value in the case of a loss.
ANCHOR LEAD: Stay-at-home parents provide valuable services to their families, and Erin McClain has the details on how to validate that value in the case of a loss. (: 57)
SCRIPT: Are You Covered? I'm Erin McClain. If you're a stay-at-home parent, you know that raising children can be a full-time job. And just because you don't make a salary, that doesn't mean your work doesn't have value, says Nancy Kuhn of Allstate.
CUT: (Kuhn) When you're a stay-at-home mom, and you just have a new baby, I think it's wonderful that you're staying at home and taking care of the baby, but you do have a definite value. If something were to happen to you, it would cost approximately a hundred and thirty thousand dollars to replace you.
SCRIPT: And Kuhn says the best time to buy is before the kids arrive.
CUT (Kuhn) Generally speaking, you're much healthier when you're in your twenties. Life insurance is much cheaper - much more affordable. When you're in your sixties or seventies, you can still get life insurance, but the premium would be significantly higher.
SCRIPT: If you are a stay-at-home parent, speak to your insurance agent to make sure you and your family are taken care of. That's Are You Covered from Allstate. I'm Erin McClain.
