Money Managers Set Sights on Foreign Stocks

With U.S. stocks lagging, professional investment managers are looking abroad to find improved returns, according to the latest quarterly poll of investment managers conducted by Russell Investment Group. Randy Lert, Russell's chief portfolio strategist explains.

ANCHOR LEAD: Have U.S. stocks lost their luster? Professional money managers are showing less enthusiasm, and a new survey from Russell Investment Group explains why. T.K. Anderson has more. (: 55)

With U.S. stocks lagging, professional investment managers are looking abroad to find improved returns, according to the latest quarterly poll of investment managers conducted by Russell Investment Group. Randy Lert is Russell's chief portfolio strategist.

CUT: (Lert) Support for foreign stocks and emerging markets is running at the strongest rate in a year. Professional money managers appear reluctant to commit themselves to any U.S. market segment except large-cap growth stocks. They remain confident in the soundness of the market, but have grown cautious.

SCRIPT: Only one quarter of the managers believes stocks are undervalued, a substantial drop from the full third of managers who saw opportunity in the market last quarter.
